As with all of our solution sets; Cetus look to bring complementary products to the application virtualisation arena. Below are some examples of our frequently deployed complementary products:
In addition to improvements in printing functionality; Citrix Presentation Server 4 also introduced CPU and memory optimisation. For a large number of our clients, this level of optimisation is sufficient, however where particular applications (or users!) require finer control over their resource utilisation; AppSense Performance Manager is usually deployed.
In addition to enhances to performance management; AppSense also provides:
AppSense Application Manager:
zero-hour threat protection from malicious code and inappropriate user behaviour for terminal server and standalone desktop users.
AppSense Environment Manager:
creates self-healing and environmental controls for terminal server and standalone desktop users.

Citrix EdgeSight further extends the management benefits of Citrix Presentation Server (or any IT infrastructure) by providing visibility of end-user’s experiences. By capturing performance and activity data from user sessions (Citrix or Windows Terminal Services) and user desktop PCs, and storing this data in a central repository; Citrix EdgeSight provides system administrators and help desk personnel the ability to:
-Proactively manage performance
-Expedite and enhance support
-Improve end users’ experience
-Improve application delivery

Organisations are making increasing use of the Internet; with VPN, business-to-business and email push technology adding to already crowded bandwidth. The ability to manage available bandwidth effectively, ensuring that priority is given to business critical applications, is becoming an essential part of IT manager’s tool kit. This need is particularly acute when real-time, mission critical applications require guaranteed bandwidth.
To ensure that remote users receive the bandwidth they need to provide an acceptable experience on lines already crowded with internet browsing, mail traffic, business-to-business communications and a raft of other traffic; we can deploy ‘packet shaping’ technology. Devices such as Packeteer and Expander provide dynamic control over bandwidth usage. By allocating bandwidth to specific applications (such as remote access and web browsing), whilst at the same time restricting the bandwidth to less critical, or inappropriate applications (such as peer to peer clients and instant messaging); IT managers can ensure that their organisations receive the best value and quality of service from their internet bandwidth.
Whilst printing improved greatly with the release of Citrix Presentation Server 4, in terms of functionality; printing to remote locations can still cause issues with regards to bandwidth.
Where this has been of concern to our clients, we have deployed the UniPrint print management solution. UniPrint considerably reduces the bandwidth required to pass print jobs from terminal servers to client printers.
